Awareness can open our eyes, but it does not automatically improve a situation. We need ways to connect concern with thoughtful action.
A useful response begins with understanding the people most affected. What do they say they need? What help is already available? What might cause harm if well-intentioned volunteers move too quickly?
From there, a small team can choose one achievable goal, assign responsibilities and set an honest measure of progress.
The measure of a successful effort should not be how impressive it looked online. It should be whether the people involved benefited, and whether we can explain the result accurately.
